Company History
Since 1989, David Bruce has been the Owner and President of Bruce Builders, Inc., dba David Bruce & Co., and has operated as a custom home builder, designer, and general contractor. Over the years the company has successfully developed and completed projects as diverse as historic rehabs, office buildings, major teardowns and remodels, as well a luxury custom homes. Tracing the company’s history back to 1942, design and construction has been part of the family for three generations.
David’s true passion is the design and construction of one of a kind luxury custom homes. He fell in love with the beauty and subtropical climate of Southwest Florida, and decided to relocate his business to Naples, with a focus on custom home building. In 2017, David Bruce & Co. was formed as a state licensed building contractor in the State of Florida.
David learned the business from the ground up as a hands-on builder. Skilled in most of the construction trades, he developed expertise in the field as a lead framing carpenter while managing his company’s carpentry crew. He knows what to expect and demand on the job site, and selects only the best craftsman and the finest materials to complete his projects. David also designs many of his company’s projects, learning architectural design by working alongside his late father and architect Davis K. Bruce for over 20 years.
David is the Managing Member of Princeton Place Development, LLC., a company formed in 2004 to engage in residential and commercial development. He is a member of the National Association of Homebuilders, and to contribute to the needs of the community, David is President of Revitalizing Urban Neighborhoods, Inc., a 501C3 non profit organization formed to combat blight & decay and remove vacant & abandoned buildings in inner city neighborhoods.
With a concentration in Finance, David graduated from the University at Buffalo, School of Management. He combines skilled financial management, crucial to the success of complex residential projects, with 35 years experience, to deliver quality projects on schedule and within budget.
Today, David enjoys working directly with his clients during design and planning, material selection, and throughout the various stages of construction. He stays close to his projects ensuring that his team of skilled craftsman deliver the quality and attention to detail that every project deserves.
